Shortcut to Fabulous Designer Rain Boot…on SALE

valentino rainboot nordstrom anniversary sale

I happen to live and work in two cities that get a fair amount of rain, and yet, I don’t own rain boots. I have wanted to buy a pair, but something always stops me…until today. I found these adorable completely precious rain boots at Nordstrom almost half off right now because of their Anniversary Sale. I went to my local Nordies and tried on the 36. I fell in mad, insane, crazy for you love. They fit true to size with a little room for some cozy socks. I am supposed to be saving money for my big move to the big Apple, but I HAD to have these puppies. They make me happy, they are on sale and they are perfect for my petite frame. They are on sale until Agust 6th for $119…marked down from $195. Valentino people! I ordered the black because black goes with everything. Plus, when I tried on the the pink ones at my local Nordstrom, they had a big black scuff on them which is no bueno. Also note my size was on backorder, but at this price, I can wait. Check them out here. They are supposed to arrive in mid-August and I kinda can’t wait for them to arrive and for it to rain all day long!

chalkboard labels

With Summer wrapping up, it is time to squeeze in some last-minute entertaining before the Fall frenzy begins. It is alway nice to send guests home with a little party favor, but these days favors can be uber pricey, and who has time to create a DIY favor from scratch? Behold a semi DIY favor idea that is cheap, easy and versatile. Etsy sells these fabulous chalkboard labels. You get 12 for $8 (67 cents a label). You can find old mason jars or buy new ones from a place like Kitchen Krafts for about $1.50 a piece (for jar and lid). All you have to do is fill the jars with your favorite candy or try something cute and more voluminous like teddy grahams. Stick the chalkboard label on the jar and you can write each guests name on the jars. Now you have a placeholder and a personalized party favor!

Shortcut to Fabulous All Natural Cleansing Cloth

A few months ago I confessed to you  that I have a nasty little habit of going to sleep with a full face of make up. Trying to break the habit in a way that accepts my laziness, I bought about every facial cleaning wipe known to man and I concluded that Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Wipes were my fave. Well since then, I have been unable to located those little minxes and so I had to search again. I am so glad this happened because I have a new fave: Yes Blueberry Facial Towelettes. You get a pack of 30 for $7.99…that is $8 for a month of a clean face. Since I have been using these wipes, I have seen a reduction in breakouts and my skin feels softer. What I love even more is that I don’t have to feel guilty about being lazy and going the wipe route, because they are biodegradable and they are 99% natural (free of parabens, SLS and petroleum). The blueberry line is apparently for Mature skin and although I wouldn’t classify my thirties something skin as mature, I can’t deny how fab my skin has looked since I found these little suckers.

Miami Monday…Shortcut to Fabulous Miami Spice Preview

Instead of reporting on Mercedes Benz Swim Week, I will let my Miami Fashion Blogger friends handle that (I would just report on one pieces anyway) and I will focus on what I am most excited about this Monday…the fast approaching start to Miami Spice. I know Miami Swim is important…it helps pay my bills in a major way, but I have trouble getting excited about bikinis with my “thirties-something” figure, so I thought I would write about the thing that kinda gives me my “thirties-something figure.” Miami Spice runs from August 1, 2012 to September 30, 2012. The have a cool new feature this year, which is two tiers of spice menus, $39 menus and $33 menus. Click here to check it out. I sorted through all of the dinner menus and here are my picks a week early so you can make your reservations now…

Mr. Chow: Sunday – Thursday $39 dinner menu. Why I love it? Some of my faves are options on the menu including Mr. Chow noodles and Green Prawns. This is an amazing deal.

STK: Sunday – Thursday $39 Dinner menu. Why I love it? There is a foie gras ravioli as an appetizer option, but for me it is all about the dessert baby and this one is good…Strawberry and Rhubarb Shortcake (thank the Lord Bikini season is coming to a close!!!)

DB Bistro Moderne: Monday – Saturday. $39 Dinner menu. Why I love it? I already have my meal planned and can’t wait to eat it…Roasted Beet Salad, Quiche Lorraine and Chocolate Brownie with Dulce de Leche Ice Cream. (Yup a nice big middle finger to the summer diet!)

Mr. Collins: Monday – Friday $39 Dinner menu. Why I love it? Blue Crab Beignets and Short Ribs.

Hakkasan: Sunday – Thursday $39 Dinner menu. Why I love it? Options people…options. You get an appetizer, choice of soup, entree, rice and dessert.

Texas de Brazil. Sunday – Thursday $33 Dinner menu. Why I love it? This is hands down the best deal of Miami Spice. You get the amaze balls salad bar, sides for the table, their awesome cheesy bread, the entire selection of Churrascaria meats and a dessert for $33…this is a total food coma waiting to happen and I can’t wait!

Barceloneta Bistro. Sunday – Thursday $33 Dinner menu. Why I love it? Maybe it is because I lived in Barcelona for a bit, maybe it is because I have family there, or maybe it is because the food here is delish and the atmosphere is fun. They don’t have the menu up online, but this one is worth the gamble in my opinion.

Shortcut to Fabulous Hair Help

When I have events, I usually call the pros in to do my hair. The benefit of this is that I get to learn all of their little secrets. For the last few years there is one product that stylists have been using on me from Miami to New York, Unite’s Expanda Dust. This stuff really adds volume to my super flat, straight hair and it helps hold backcombing. I got my own about six months ago and have been able to create hair on my own that looks pretty fab. When in Miami, I get my fix at my local Blo and in New York I head over to Salon Champu in the East Village. When you want to create volume, lift your hair, sprinkle a little underneath the piece you have just lifted, at the roots and back comb a bit. It is about $27 for a bottle, and I have had mine for about 6 months and still have a ton of this magic little fairy dust left! You can use this to create updos or with curlers or even a crimper to create volume. Yes! A crimper…check out my how-to on using a crimper on Latest
