Shortcut to Fabulous Chick Lit Book Series!

August 17, 2010 by ShortcutsEditor

51kS91r4rdL._SL160_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-dp,TopRight,12,-18_SH30_OU01_AA115_If you are looking for some great summer reading, look no further than Hester Browne’s Little Lady series. Hester Browne is a British Author who created a delightfully funny and refreshing character, Melissa aka Honey for a book series containing three books to date: “The Little Lady Agency,” “The Little Lady Agency in the Big Apple” and “The Little Lady Agency and the Prince.”

The first book is set in London, the second in New York and London and the third in London and Paris. Hester Browne, whisks you away in the life of Melanie Romney-Jones, daughter of a scandalous member of the British Parliament who should have a privileged life, but has to pave her own way and earn her own money. The books were a great read because, Melanie has access to the rich and infamous, but is the sort of girl you would be friends with and who is completely normal. I plowed through all three books in less than a week and had so much fun journeying through Melanie’s world. Melanie is sacked from her job at an estate agency and is desperate for a new job, when she runs into a former etiquette teacher who is running an interesting temp agency. Melanie naively signs up with the agency and ends up in sticky situation, but the whole debacle inspires her to start her own agency renting out her impeccable style, taste, etiquette, party planning and general organization skills to pathetic, well-to-do bachelors all over London. To disguise her business from her crazy family, she creates another persona, “Honey,” who serves as the lady behind the Little Lady Agency. While the idea seems a bit cheese ball, Hester makes it work perfectly and seem completely realistic, believable and fun!

The second book has Melanie crossing the pond and offering her services in New York. Hester Browne does a great job of capturing the differences between and London and New York life and the perceptions residents of each city have of the residents of the other.

The third book has Melanie back in London traveling on weekends to Paris and finding herself, her voice and true happiness where she least expected it.

These are great books to read over a glass of wine on a rainy day or on a relaxing vacation. The books are fun, lighthearted and have a nice happy ending. For some stress free, feel-good reading, I highly recommend the Little Lady series by Hester Browne. If you liked the Shopaholic series, you will love these books. In fact, you may even like this series more because Melanie is more responsible. If you are like me and got a little annoyed with Becky from time to time, then Melanie will be a refreshing change!

So, check out these books and enjoy this shortcut to fabulous feel-good reading!
