Shortcut to Fabulous Five Faves for Summer

ShortcutsToFabulousFivePicksforSummer2012

Here are five things I am crushing on right now:

1. Gaga’s Raspberry Sherbet Bars- 90 Calories of refreshing yumminess…I am so madly in love I can’t stand it.

2. Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs- This makes my list every year because I am on wrinkle watch and stay away from the sun so my legs are pasty white, plus I have scars on my legs. My only wish…that Sally Hansen would make it in travel sized.

3. Conair Bun Maker- With the heat this summer, this little gem has saved my from crying “early menopause.” Plus, it fixes a bad hair day stat. Check out my how-to video for the secret to a perfect bun with this little gizmo that is under $5.

4. Jessica GELeration polish in 388 Sensual- I have officially broken up with Shellac for Jessica’s GELeration polishes. They last the same two weeks, no chips like Shellac, but they have matching regular polish so you can match your Gel Mani to your regular pedi…Genius!  Oh and supposedly, the polish is made of all natural ingredients so it is more green.

5. MAC Viva Glam Nicki by Nicki Minaj lipsitck- I know this has been out for a while, but I jumped on the bandwagon despite my distaste for the singer herself. The thing I love about the lipstick is that the color looks so fab for summer and doesn’t melt off like everything else I own. It is a really strongly pigmented color and it lasts. Plus, it is under $15 and a portion of the proceeds go towards women, men and children living with HIV and AIDS.

Now that summer is officially here and 4th of July is just days away, it is time to make sure your beach gear is as cute as you are! I am not a beach person…my skin is sensitive and truth-be-told, I would rather be pasty white than have wrinkles, but I do head to the beach a few times a year, and when I go a good beach towel that distracts from my cellulite is kind of a necessity. Here are the towels on my summer crush list:

This Reserved towel is perfect for beaches with beach chairs or better yet cruises! $27.17

As a blogger, I am obliged to include this towel...plus the $9.99 price tag makes it a no-brainer

Towel and vintage fashion art all in one....$49 from Zappos

I might be a Madame these days, but don't mind if I do partake in this presh Mademoiselle towel

Shortcut to Fabulous Purse Must Have

lint removing sheets

About six months ago, I was wearing my color of choice, black. I had a morning meeting at one of those uber cool and chic offices that allow employees to bring their pets. I don’t have pets, so usually my black clothes are fab right off the hanger. I went to the meeting and sauntered out thinking I was hot $hit (the meeting went well). I proceeding to sashay around town to a bundle of other meetings with a nice little lint laden swagger. I walked around half the day with a rear full of lint and pet hair. Of course, no one said anything until one of my close girlfriends (you know who you are and THANK YOU) told me my a$$ looked like it came from a kennel. Well, after dying of embarrasment, I went home and immediately ordered these lint pads from Hollywood Fashion Secrets to keep in my purse. I love Hollywood Fashion Secrets products. No one is paying me to say this or giving me any free stuff for it. I just really do like their products, they have a bunch of really useful stuff for girls on the go and these lint pads are perfect to keep in your make-up bag for those hairy situations…bah dum tsh. All kidding and puns aside, I love these because they are less bulky than lint rollers but do the same job!

Shortcut to Fabulous New Nail Trend

ciate_caviar_manicure_pink

Textured 3-D nails is the new spring nail trend. Dipping wet nails in micro-beads will get the look, but starting Wednesday, you can buy a fab kit from Sephora that will get you a multi-dimensional nail look with ease. The kit is called Caviar Nails and it is made by a British company called Ciate and sells for $25. It comes with everything you need for a fun manicure, complete with a tray to catch excess beads and funnel to put unused beads back in the container.

I have a strange feeling these kits are going to sell out fast once available stateside (they are sold out on the Ciate website online), so get your alarm clock ready and high-tail it to Sephora on April 10th!

Shortcut to Fabulous Chocolate Milk Experience

zico

I have to admit I have not been a fan of the whole coconut water movement. The taste of plain coconut water is not market in my book and so I watched as all of my hipper than hip friends replaced their water bottled with the latest coconut water brand. Several months ago, I had the opportunity to try some free samples of Zico’s Chocolate Coconut water and it was love at first sip. This stuff tastes just like chocolate milk, but is healthy with only 110 calories for 14 oz. I have a bigger sweet tooth than Willy Wonka himself so this stuff is absolute Godsend when I have a chocolate craving. Plus it has lots of nutrient kinda stuff that is good for me like potassium and calcium…it even has some protein. They have other fun flavors too like Pineapple, Mango and Pomberry…other flavors have even less calories. Click here to check out the full line up. I am so in love with this stuff, I had some of my friends try and and now they are addicts too…my friends with kiddies have even purchased it in bulk for the kiddos lunch box! I just can’t wait to have a summer soiree so I can make some fun cocktail smoothies with the fruit flavors!! (hint: they have recipes for smoothies and cocktails here). You can buy the stuff by the case on Amazon by clicking here.

**Please note S2F is never paid for any of the products that I rave about. In this instance, I was given free samples, but no one asked me to write about the stuff, I just felt like it was a shortcut to a fabulous beverage experience so I did.
