Shortcut to Fabulous Chip Face-off

3bagsPotato Flyers vs. Popchips! Those of you who have been reading for awhile know I loves me some popchips. In fact, I love them so much I order the snack sized bags in bulk from Amazon. Click here to get your own! In my attempt to slim down for the summer, I let my popchip inventory dwindle and I was left today with a huge crunch craving and no popchips. I went to my local organic grocer to grab some lunch and saw Pirate’s Booty Potato Flyers on the shelf next to my beloved Popchips. They were on sale, so I figured I would give them a try and see how they stack up. Note, I am comparing the original flavor of both. Calorie wise they are equals. One serving of Potato Flyers has 120 calories, 5 grams of fat, 18 grams of carbs and 1 gram of protein. One serving of popchips has 120 calories, 4 grams of fat, 20 grams of carbs, 1 gram of fiber and 1 gram of protein. ┬áBoth are 3 Weight Watchers Plus points per serving. So probably about equal from a health stats standpoint. Both way better for your figure than a regular chip.

Now on the the chip itself. The flyer chip looks very similar to the popchip. However, popchips are air-popped using some fancy51r7XLeqQQL._SL250_ technology. Flyer chips are baked. Popchips are lighter and crispier than the flyer chip. The flyer chip is more dense and crunchy than the popchip. Personally I like the lighter crispier texture of the popchip. The popchip has the perfect crisp and crunch and then sort of melts in your mouth, but not in a mushy way…more in a savor the flavor kind of way. I also found the flyer chip to be saltier than the popchip. The flyer chip had an aftertaste that I was not loving. Overall, I would get the flyer chip if the popchip weren’t around, but I given a choice, I choose to chomp on the popchip over the flyer chip.
