Shortcut to Fabulous Halloween Fun
October 12, 2009 by ShortcutsEditor

Every year, I try and find something new and fabulous to do for Halloween. Every year I complain that Miami does not have enough options and the ones that do exist are too crowded or too much of a “scene.” Despite my complaints, somehow I always find something fabulous to do on Halloween. This year, I decided to spread some Halloween cheer to those near and dear by listing my picks for some adult friendly and fabulous Halloween fun in 2009!
Right after Overtown but the design district is the area known as the MIMO. MIMO has one of my favorite restaurants, Soyka at the famed 55th Street Station. This year they are going to have a street festival complete with costume contests, treat shops and more. Dine at Uva69, Soyka, Moonchine, or Le Café in costume and get a Free cocktail. This is my top pick for budget friendly, hip and comfortable Halloween high jinks. Click here for more info.
Down the Rabbit Hole at Warehouse 2016
Party the night way in costume (they are mandatory for entry) at this dark Alice and Wonderland themed event. All proceeds go to benefit UNICEF and tickets are only $10. Event organizers promise a live DJ, drinks, dancing, costume contests, raffles, performers and more. WAIT! Before you run out and get your Alice and Wonderland themed costumes, note that organizers specifically state “Sorry, no Alice and Wonderland Themed Costumes” on their website. FYI- $100 buys you V.I.P. access. $5 buys you a raffle ticket and a cocktail. $3 buys you a raffle ticket with a soft drink. Event organizers advertise plenty of free parking. Hurry there are a very limited amount of tickets…only about 100 general admission tickets left at the time of publication!!! Click here to order.
South Beach’s famous China Grill on 5th is hosting a Halloween fest complete with a D.J., costume contest, dancing and fun. If you want a more low-key Halloween but still want to be hip…this is the place for you! The event starts at 9 p.m. so make your reservations early!
The 22nd Annual Vizcayan Museum and Gardens Halloween Sundowner
Yes it is a total scene. Yes it is too crowded. But one cannot write about Halloween in Miami without mentioning Vizcaya’s famous and legendary Halloween Ball. Tickets are steep at $125 and sell out well before the event. Note that the event is NOT on Halloween, but rather on October 24th. Event hours are from 8 pm to midnight (they let you party until about 1 am). Your $125 general admission ticket buys you access to the party with costume contests, an open bar and two live DJ’s. Remember parking is $10 for the main parking lot and $20 for the inside parking lot. Oh, and they have food but you have to pay for it. So, if you want to celebrate Halloween with 2000 of your closest friends, click the link here and order your ticket for Vizcaya’s Halloween bash.
Other Clubs Restaurants and Bars
Before Last Call sells tickets to Halloween events at Miami’s hottest nightclubs and bars. Tickets do not seem to be on sale yet, but you can sign up to be notified when they do go on sale. My picks from the selections that appear to be available would be B.E.D., Hotel Victor and Grass Restaurant and Lounge. Note, that you may be able to get tickets directly from the club, restaurant or bar. So, give them a call to see if you can score some Halloween fun by phone.
If you know of a Halloween event in the Miami area, let us know in the comments section. Tell all your friends to visit this website and decide which shortcut to Fabulous you’re going to take this Halloween!
